Recognised scams:
Someone always tries to crash the party
The freebie scene is an unsurprisingly attractive area for scammers.
The sites below are either dubious or absolutely proven scams. DON'T sign up to them. For your own sake stick to the recommended sites. All sites listed on here have at the very least had some positive feedback on the major community sites.

iPod Hush - this is an absolutely 100% bona-fide proven SCAM. Some 12 year old kid "runs" it. He took lots of peoples money. Hopefully someone will break his knees (not a recommendation btw, I don't condone such acts...)
PSP Free - now just one of those generic portal pages :(

We've cleared out all the crap. The UK based sites have kicked out all of their American cousins.
The giveaway network has shown itself to be a very strong network, so we now feature more of their sites.
freeclickz (interclickz) continues to be our favourite top-recommended scheme.

So what's it all about? Well, it's about claiming free items (or money) in return for signing up to some website or service and getting a few mates to do the same. Yes, it's kinda like a pyramid scheme. Yes, those are generally dodgy and, yes, I was very dubious too. But do a little homework and you'll find as I did that there's a lot of supporting evidence for the more established sites in this little niche. It really is possible, and pretty easy, to bag an iPod or a PSP for pretty much no money.

How can it be real?
Evidence!
There are plenty of articles on the subject, here are a few good ones you might want to read:
Engadget: Anyway, if you’ve got five friends you can convince to do this who also think they each have five friends they can convince to do this, you might just find yourself just maybe getting a free iPod.
Gear Live: We now have word that Andrew B., one of our own, has in fact received his free 15 GB iPod from FreeiPods.com. Click the link to see the pictures.
Wired News: Unless you're extremely gullible, the promise of getting a free iPod from FreeiPods.com looks extremely dubious. But surprisingly, the site appears to be legitimate. The program almost certainly isn't a dodgy pyramid scheme; it's a new form of online marketing supported by companies like eBay, AOL and Columbia House.
CNet.com: In sum, this is not a scam. You can get a free iPod from Gratis Networks. It may not be entirely free, as you have to spend time and, in some cases, money on special offers.

If reading isn't your thing, take a look at the column to the right - that's what a few users of the site have written in to tell us about receiving!

A quick guide to freebie sites.
It's easy!.
The method is pretty much the same for all sites - once signed up with a valid email address, and registering your personal details...
step 1
step 2
... simply take part in one of the advertisers' offers to validate your account ("go green").
step 3
Then it's a case of persuading your quota of referrals (family and friends are probably easiest) to also "go green" and after that it's just a case of choosing your gift...
step 4
... and waiting by the letterbox.

No responsibility accepted for anything at all, ever, anywhere, to do with anything, by anyone.
So don't even think about trying to sue me or anything, k?
iPod is a trademark of Apple, which is also a trademark, and I respect all those things immensely.
I have nothing to do with anyone important like the Apple company or the freebie companies, nothing at all.
Good luck with your free stuff. I hope you have every success, I really do.
